We are fee for service, and out of network providers for many insurance companies.
We currently accept
cash and personal checks as payment.
Our professional services are paid in advance by monthly retainer, or in advance of each session if so arranged with your treating psychologist when treatment is initiated (when you sign the Consent to Treatment, Fee Agreement, and other Office Forms.)
You alone are responsible for payment of your services in advance of each session, (by retainer
for a month of
sessions where that
is our agreement).
In that case, you are responsible for paying for one month of sessions regardless of your insurance coverage.
Psychotherapy, consultation, and psychological assessment are professional services, and you are responsible for your scheduled appointment time whether or not you are able to attend. In most cases you will have already paid by retainer.
We request 48 hours notice for cancelled appointments.
Your 45 minute clinical hour (session) is reserved solely for your use and usually cannot be filled by another patient on short notice.
We do honor emergency cancellations, and attempt to provide reschedules within the following week.
for services is due
by monthly retainer
of clinical sessions,
(payment may be made at
the beginning at of session only
only if arranged with your psychologist)
in order that it not detract from
our therapeutic work together.
You will receive a Statement reflecting payment at the end of
to submit for to your insurance company for reimbursement.
If you or a family member are victims of crime (& a police report exists) the CA Victim Assistance Program will retrieve the police report for you
Please call them at 408.295.2656 in Santa Clara County for an intake appointment;
they may direct you to a similar office in the County or State in which your victimization occurred,
1) after paying the amount owed to your Abbey psychologist at Abbey
the Statement verifying payment to each parent's insurance in turn for payment. 3) The portion that alternate parent's insurance does not pay may then be submitted to the child's Victim Assistance Center for reimbursement usually for most of the amount for the Primary victim of the crime, for family members living in the household at the time of the crime (if you request services and they approve them).
VAP often amounts to significant, often full, and rapid coverage, for victims of crime and significant by less coverage for family members.
If you are not a victim of crime, your insurance may pay for the special expertise of out-of-network providers, for example, severe stress and extreme trauma.
If your insurance does not cover out-of-network providers, you may be able to pay for therapy from your pre-tax income using an FSA or HSA account.
We encourage you to contact your insurance company directly with questions about the percent of your coverage BEFORE engaging in therapy/testing.
